Magic Series 2021-2022
Informed by fairytales and myths, The Magic Series examines beliefs held in pre-scientific societies. Although its power was fearful, Magic could change perceptions of outcomes in one’s, or others’ lives thereby offering more hope, optimism, and a sense of control.
As an agent of change, Magic was an important tool.
In this body of work, old vintage tools symbolize the fact of these magical changes. Old telephones communicate the occurrences and nature of change, and yarns suggest the flow of power created by the spells. The mixed media Goddess and sorceress figures celebrate my interest in the magic makers themselves.
